2017 ACSA Leadership Summit

We all realize that we are currently preparing students for jobs that don’t exist, using technologies that have not yet been invented, in order to solve problems we don’t even know are problems yet (Fisch, C). While this may be a daunting concept to imagine, there are critical steps school districts need to take now to ensure that students are college successful. While it’s a great start to instill a college bound expectation for students, it’s not enough and our college entrance statistics clearly reveal this discouraging pattern. To ensure our students are ‘college successful’ and globally competitive, the transformation must begin at the elementary level. After researching 21st century exemplary elementary schools in California, a few significant themes emerged.
